Spravato®

Spravato® is for people who’ve done the work, tried the meds, and are still waiting for relief.

What is it?

Spravato® is an FDA-approved nasal spray used to treat depression that hasn’t responded to other medications. Unlike daily pills taken at home, Spravato is given in-office under the guidance of a licensed provider. You’ll self-administer the spray during your visit, then stay with us for two hours while we monitor you in a private, calming space.

Benefits

  • Often starts working within hours to days

  • Doesn’t need to be taken daily

  • Can be life-changing for those who haven’t had success with oral meds

Who it’s Right For

Spravato® may be right for you if:

  • You've tried two or more antidepressants with limited or no improvement.

  • You live with treatment-resistant depression or suicidal thoughts related to MDD.

  • You're seeking options that go beyond traditional medications.

Who it’s Not Right For

Spravato® may not be a good fit if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain heart or blood pressure conditions, or if you’ve had a serious reaction to this type of medication before. It also requires staying in the office for two hours after each dose and having someone drive you home.

  • Side effects can include:

    • Dizziness or nausea

    • Dissociation or feeling disconnected

    • Increased blood pressure

    • Sleepiness or fatigue

These are usually temporary and closely monitored at every visit.

  • Not always. If you’re already seeing a mental health provider, we’ll request records or coordinate care with them. If you’re new to treatment, we can provide a psychiatric evaluation to assess your options, including Spravato®.

  • This varies by individual. Some continue for several months while others taper off. Your treatment plan will evolve based on your response, needs, and goals.

  • You’ll need the rest of the day off. We recommend avoiding work, driving, or major decisions until the next day.
